A member of the Zazzau Emirate Council, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, collapsed during a public event on Thursday and subsequently passed away at the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Pate, who held the esteemed title of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, collapsed while participating in an event alongside the Emir of Zazzau, HRH Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
The incident was confirmed by Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, the Media and Publicity officer of the Zazzau Emirate, who stated: “It is with profound sorrow that the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the demise of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya Pate, a member of the Council.”
“Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya, who also held the position of Councillor responsible for Health Related Matters, passed away this morning while attending a program with His Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, at Hajiya Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofan Gayan, Zaria.”
The remains of the late Sarkin Yakin Zazzau were interred at Rimin Dodo later that evening, in accordance with Islamic traditions.
